So the time has come to shake things up a bit. My family and I made the decision to change my career direction as a shot at making some even bigger changes in life. It has always been our family dream to move to a small town and recently that dream seems to be drifting further and further away. We realized that there would have to be some major changes in what we consider reality in order to make these dreams come true.
I was presented with an awesome opportunity to work with a great old friend and my brother who is one of the best guys around. This opportunity was to mine gold in the great state of Alaska. Although this sounds like every mans dream the decision was not an easy one. I would be leaving a job of almost nine years where I had recently received a promotion to manage a new support model as well as some of the best guys at MSSB. I would also be leaving behind the best family in the world which includes my wife and our four little rug rats. By leaving this behind I would be throwing it all on the line for an opportunity of a lifetime.
After weeks of convincing arguments my wife finally gave in and the ball started rolling. I gave my notice at work and there was no turning back........
The plans are to roll out of Salt Lake City the last week of March so that we can arrive in Fairbanks by April 2, 2012. I am looking forward to the drive almost as much as the summer on the mine. Although there will not be much stopping to take in the beauty we will be camping along the way traveling through Canada on the Alcan Highway. What a way to begin the adventure!
